Our client is looking for a qualified Clinical Pathologist to join their ever growing team of professionals serving the UK market.About the roleThe laboratory that you will be situated in performs high quality diagnostic work for a variety of animal species. The majority of the diagnostic work originates from small animals, with a smaller but significant number of equine, large animals, avian and exotic specimens. All activities must comply with the laboratory Quality Policy and be consistent with corporate marketing objectives and best practice management objectives.Duties and responsibilities:Microscopic evaluation of cytology and hematology specimens submitted to the laboratory and preparation of personalized reports for clients on the findings of these studies.Preparation of personalized written reports of laboratory results for clients in the area of biochemistry, hematology, endocrinology, and microbiology.Telephone consultations with laboratory clients regarding interpretation of laboratory data or other laboratory-related, clinical issues. Alongside the Reference Laboratory duties, the Clinical Pathology Team is regularly involved in supporting our in-house customers with the interpretation of laboratory results generated with the in-house instruments.Assisting with the development and validation of new assays offered to clients.Participation in the laboratory Quality Assurance programs.Maintenance of personal professional competency and participation in the continued professional development by self-study, attendance at scientific meetings, and participation in internal seminar programs.Supporting the Head of Department in maintaining the turnaround times of cytology and written pathologist reporting within the established laboratory goals.Finally, customer education, participation in validation studies, and internal training of our technical staff complete the list of activities requested for this position.About the candidateEssential Skills/Attributes:Valid UK Driving Licence and InsuranceA degree in Veterinary Science register-able with the Royal College of Veterinary SurgeonsPrevious experience working in a commercial diagnostic laboratoryA commitment to providing a high quality and personalised pathology serviceCirca 3 years' experience in diagnostic clinical pathology and cytologyAdvanced competency in diagnostic veterinary cytologyMust be able to operate a microscope for sufficient periods the meet the Laboratory standardsLight lifting (up to 15Kg) may be requiredThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
