Our client is looking for a permanent Software Development Manager who has a proven track record of developing web / software architecture and cloud based solutions to be based at their headquarters near Birmingham. Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, the Software Development Manager is not a stereotypical software management role, as you would expect, our client is looking for someone gregarious, forward thinking, motivated, is a creative Software development professional, and is passionate about developing solutions, leading a software team and ideally possess a proven track record as a Web architect or software development manager in either the medical device, life sciences or healthcare sector – would be a distinct advantage although not essential.Our client intends to build a cloud based software offering that will change the way our patients are receive their treatment.Your Role and Responsibilities:• You will provide co-ordination and leadership in the creation and evolution of the software content of the Company’s products• Ensure the needs of product development and assurance standards• Compliant with the applicable risk management requirements, medical device regulations and standards• Design and test documentation which is completed to standards required by the QMS Quality management standards.• Ensure product reliability – software designs are reliable in field useKey Objectives:• Plan & manage the activities of the software development team• Oversee the co-ordination of software and system level requirements• Ensure the delivery of the appropriate architecture to the relevantSoftware Development Process• Identify software failure scenarios• Implement system level risk management outputs in the software design, as appropriate• Develop, maintain and operate an appropriate process to support the delivery of software design and code to required standards and maintaining the triaging process.• Develop the software inspections process• Software Test/ Verification – ensure designs are testable• Ensure the preparation, and deployment of production software in line with project schedules and stakeholder needsSoftware Process and Infrastructure:• Creation and maintenance of software development plans• Provide metrics definition, collection and analysis• Support internal and external auditing to QMS requirements• Maintain all required development tools under licence and technical support• Planning of system content of system development• Oversee status reporting of team progress against project plans• Ensure the departmental budgetPersonal competencies• A proven track record as a software development manager and experience of delivering real time control software• Software engineering degree or equivalent work experience.• Successful exercising of senior level software engineering responsibility for the provision of commercial, volume-manufactured solutions, preferably in the healthcare industry or other regulated industries would be desirable• Experience of working to QMS standards, and international standards (ISO9001, ISO 13485, EN 62304), covering the complete product software lifecycleIn return, you can expect a very competitive salary, bonus, share options, car, a wide range of benefits and excellent career and personal development opportunities as it is the company’s intention to also launch internationally within the next 12 months or so
