ID Medical is recruiting a qualified paramedic with at least two years' experience to work as an Emergency Practitioner in the Coventry area. This is a full time post, working Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm.This is a unique opportunity for a paramedic looking for a varied role. Responding to GP home visit requests, the ideal candidate will have minor injury/illness experience and be comfortable working autonomously to provide holistic care for adults and children. You will work across a variety of settings, including emergency response. Using in-depth knowledge and experience, you will assess, investigate, interpret, diagnose, treat and refer or discharge patients.Main responsiblitites: * To autonomously provide safe and effective highly specialised knowledge and skills, underpinned by theory to instigate and evaluate pathways of care. * To assess, diagnose and manage patients from the first point of contact through to discharge or referral, often analysing highly complex facts and situations. * To communicate highly complex information to patients, relatives and other health professionals ensuring sensitivity and compassion. This may also include dealing with contentious information where the patient, their family or carer may not be happy with the information presented, requiring the ability to manage any conflict through advanced negotiation and resolution skill * Work with the Clinical Service Manager to assess financial performance and target delivery of the service specifically around the key performance indicators (KPIs).Clinical * Accurately assess and prioritise patients demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness including past medical and drug history for a broad variety of undifferentiated complex medical condition This may include both face to face and telephone assessment. * Take responsibility for the overall planning of care for a wide range of urgent and emergency patien This includes determining the most appropriate care pathway, coordinating with other services, specialists, ensuring the patient has the best clinical outcome. Use advanced assessment skills, underpinned by theoretical knowledge, in history taking and clinical examination to determine a diagnosis and initiate a plan of care by attending to patients in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. * Demonstrate highly developed physical skills and expertise in complex clinical procedures and techniques in diagnostics required for the role and within the competency framework and own scope of professional competence. The type of physical skill includes a wide range of urgent and emergency interventions, which require a high degree of precision, speed and high levels of hand-eye coordination. * Accurately evaluate information elicited in history taking and clinical examination to initiate appropriate and timely treatment, discharge, signposting or referral to other professionals or agencies * Work autonomously within the scope of professional practice and exercise own clinical judgement to holistically mange patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed injury and illness and be accountable for all decisions made. * Supply, administer and prescribe medication according to internal Medicines Management Policy, APC guidelines, Patient Group Directions (PGDs), and JRCALC guidelineQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEEssential - * Current HCPC registered paramedic * Additional professional knowledge acquired through specialist training, experience or other significant accredited course Significant operational/clinical experience. * Independent Prescribing Qualification (or willing to work towards) * Experience working as an autonomous practitioner undertaking complex assessments and managing own caseload * Advanced patient assessment and clinical skills (adult and child) * Must have held a full UK manual car licence for a minimum of two years (in conjunction with The Road Traffic new driver act 1995.
