The physiotherapist is part of the therapy team which consists of other Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and language therapists, Physio, O.T. and SALT assistants, complementary therapists, companions and volunteers. All work with one another to provide the optimal level of person centred support and therapy for adults with complex neurological conditions. Integral to the role is the ability to integrate with the nursing team, who provide twenty four hour cover, and the centre’s G.P. Physiotherapy skills and knowledge will inform and extend the provision of services. 1.To prioritise, assess and manage own patient caseload demonstrating specialised skills at a level appropriate to experience and ability to work without direct supervision2. To promote effective and evidence based treatments ensuring that each Resident/out patient has an individualised and person centred plan which is realistic and positive within his/her range of abilities.3. To ensure that all treatments are performed in accordance with best practice and in accordance with The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and The Health Professions Council.4. To assist and supervise where required, less experienced staff in the day to day management of their caseload5. To take part/lead Hydrotherapy sessions following appropriate training 6. To record outcomes objectively and to respond to changing needs.7. To ensure that all records are maintained and stored confidentially.8. To perform as a member of the multidisciplinary team and ensure that information is shared accurately and appropriately both verbally and in written form.9. To become conversant with and apply relevant policies and procedures.10. To take a responsible attitude to personal health and safety and to that of colleagues, Residents and visitors to the centre.11. To be proactive in identifying opportunities to update skills and knowledge and to participate in regular CPD including in-service training programmes.12. To contribute to and participate in identified audit and service development projects.13. To play an active part in promoting the work of the centre and in developing its role in the community.14. .
